What is Public Relation? Explain its role.

Solution

Meaning: Public relations are deliberate, planned and sustained efforts to establish and maintain understanding between an organization and its public.

Role of Public Relation:

  1. More Credible: Public Relation activity is considered more reliable. Public is of the opinion that they can be misled by advertising and other such mediums for increasing sales. But this is not possible in public relations because its objective is to improve the image of an organization.
  2. Economical Medium: To attract the attention of Public this is the cheapest medium available. Like a lot of more money has to be spent on advertisement as compared to it.
  3. Image Building: All related groups of people are satisfied with the help of public relation activity. As a result, it builds a good image of the organization.
  4. Boosting Sales: An effort is made to impress all related groups through Public Relation but special attention is paid towards the consumer. This makes a favorable impact on the sales of the company.
  5. End of Obstructions: Only the groups which are related to the organization can be the source of creating obstructions for that organisation. Public Relation is that medium through which all related groups are satisfied. As a result, there is no question of raising obstruction from their side in the working of an organisation.
