What happens when CH3-Br is treated with KCN? 

Answer

It is a nucleophilic substitution reaction. The nucleophile CN- substitutes Br- because cyanide is strong nucleophile than bromide. The reaction is as follows:

 
CH3-Br+KCN --> CH3-CN+HBr
