Solution
Non-metals contain 4–8 electrons in their outermost shells. Carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine and neon are non-metals, as these contain 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 electrons respectively in their outermost shells. Their atomic numbers and electronic configuration are as given below:
