Sources Of Energy

Question
CBSEENSC10013662

When a body falls freely to the ground, its velocity reduces to zero and the sum total of kinetic energy and potential energy also becomes zero. Does it violate the law of conservation of energy?

Solution
When a body falls to the ground the law of conservation of energy is not violated. As per the law of conservation of energy, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed.
In this case potential energy and kinetic energy are converted into heat (or light) energy.
