A man deposited Rs. 10,000 in a bank at the rate of 5% simple interest annually. Find the amount in 15th year since he deposited the amount and also calculate the total amount after 20 years.

Solution

Money deposited = Rs 10,000, Rate of interest = 5%
Interest for one year = 10000 cross times 5 over 100 space equals space Rs. space 500
Let a be the amount deposited and d be the interest every year.
∴                           a = 10000,  d = 500
Amount in the 15th year = straight t subscript 15 space equals space straight a plus left parenthesis 15 minus 1 right parenthesis straight d space equals space 10000 space plus space 14 left parenthesis 500 right parenthesis space equals space Rs. space 17000
