The importance of locating industries near the source of electricity generation is declining.
Mention three important reasons for it.
The important reasons are mentioned below:
1. Because fuel efficiency has been improving considerably e.g., in 18th century more than 8–10 tonnes of coal were required for smelting 1 tonne of pig iron but today less than 1 tonnes is needed.
2. Development of electric grids has made it possible to transmit electricity to longer distances.
3. Pipeline transportation, especially of gas and oil has made the energy sources as a locational factor less important.
