Fluorine reacts violently with water forming hydrogen fluoride, and liberates oxygen which is highly charged with ozone.
(i) 2F2(g) + 2H2O(l) → 4H+ (aq) + 4F–(aq) + O2(g)
Chlorine dissolves in water to some extent to give a green solution
(ii) Cl2+ H2O → HCI + HOCl
