Moments Supplementary Reader Chapter 2 The Adventures Of Toto

The grandfather sees Toto tied up with a feeding-trough. It looked feeble and ill. The grandfather gets empathetic towards Toto and buys him from a Tonga-driver for five rupees. This way Toto comes to grandfather's private zoo.

Toto was a pretty monkey because his eyes were bright and sparkled with mischief beneath deep set eyebrows. His Teeth were white like pearls, were very often displayed in a smile. His fingers were quick. His tail added to his good looks.

Toto was very mischievous. He did not allow other pet animals to sleep at night. Thus, Grandfather decided to take Toto to Saharanpur. A big black canvas bag was arranged for Toto to travel.
The Ticket collector classified Toto as a dog because there was no mention of fare in his rulebook for a monkey to travel in the railways. 

Toto takes bath in a large bowl of warm water. He would test the temperature with his hand before stepping into the bowl. He would take the soap and rub it all over himself in that bowl. Toto learnt to do so as he had seen the author doing the same.

Once there was a large kettle of water on the fire to boil for tea. No one was present in the kitchen. Toto entered the kitchen. He got into the kettle because it was too cold outside and he wanted to enjoy a hot bath. Water was too hot that he kept on hopping up and down. Grandmother pulled him out almost half boiled. 

Toto was very mischievous and kept destroying things at home. He did not allow other pet animals to sleep at night. Toto never became friendly with other animals. The grandfather realised that he could not afford the loss of household items on a frequent basis. Thus, grandfather sold Toto back to the Tonga-driver.
