2. It occurs only in some animals which possess breathing organs like trachea, gills and lungs.

2. It occurs in all animals and plants cells in the mitochondria.

3. During breathing atmospheric air is taken into the body to obtain O₂ and the CO₂ is given out of the body.

3. In the process of respiration the food (mainly glucose) is oxidised in the cells producing CO₂, water and energy.
