Difference between conventional current and electronic current:
When a conductor AB is connected across the terminals of a cell, free electrons start drifting from its end B (connected to the negative terminal of the cell) to the end A (connected to the positive terminal of the cell).
The current constituted by flowing electrons (negative charges) is called electronic current.
Clearly, the direction of electronic current is from negative terminal to positive terminal.
Fig. Direction of Conventional and electronic currents.
Conventional current: This current is measured in a direction opposite to the flowof negative charges(electrons). Conventional current is always positive.
If a current is measured for positive charge flow, the conventional current is in the same direction as the charge flow.
