Humans have directly influenced the kind and distribution of the earth's biotic stock pattern–an outcome of a growing population and its requirement for food and shelter. Human demands for resources results in the death of some species and survival of others. The early humans were not backward. Their lifestyle was a successful adaptation to the call of nature given the knowledge and technology of the time.
