Shipping bill : It is a bill prepared by an exporter by filling a printed form obtained from the customs office. It is prepared for the determination and payment of the export duty. It contains details relating to the quantity and value of goods, name and number of the ship, name and addresses of the exporter, port of destination etc. It is prepared in triplicate. These are different shipping bill forms for free goods, dutiable goods and coastal goods. On free goods, no customs duty is payable while on dutiable goods such duty has to be paid. Coastal goods are meant to be carried to another port in the same country. Shipping bill is prepared for assessing the duties payable by the exporter. It is different from shipping order.
