What is Hund's rule of Maximum Multiplicity?
Hund’s Rule of Maximum Multiplicity: It state that pairing of electrons in the orbital belonging to the same subshell (p,d or f) does not take place until each orbital belonging to that subshell has got one electron each i.e., it has to be singly occupied first, after that pairing of electron take place.
For example, each of the three p-orbitals of the p-subshell, each of the five d-orbitals of d-subshell and each of the seven f-orbitals of the f-subshell gets one electron of parallel spin before any other of them receives the second electron of opposite spin.
