Write down the steps involved in the calculation of arithmetic mean of individual series by short cut method.
1. Take any figure as an assumed mean of the data.
2. Take the deviations of the variable X from the assumed mean taking into account '+' and ‘ - ’ ’ signs. Denote the deviation by dx.
3. Add the deviation and denote the total of dx by Σ dx.
4. Apply following formula for calculating arithmetic mean.
