Discuss the cognitive dissonance as a component in attitude change process.

Solution

Cognitive dissonance as a concept in attitude changes was proposed by Leon Festinger. It lays stress on the cognitive component. The concept says that the cognitive components of attitude must be consonant i.e., they should be logically related to each other. If a person finds that two aspects of an attitude are dissonant then one of them is changed to establish consonance.
