Find the
(a) resultant electric force on a charge Q,

(b) the potential energy of this system.

F1 and F2 are perpendicular to each other so their resultant will be

F' = F12 + F22 + 2F1F2 cos 90oF1 = F2F' = 214πε0qQa2

F3 and resultant of F1 and F2 will be in the same direction

Net force

F = F' + F3

F = Q4πε0 2qa2 + Q2a2 =  Q4πε022q + Q2a2F = Q4πε0 22q + Q2a2
