A TV tower has a height of 150 m. By how much the height of tower be increased to double its coverage range?

Solution

Height of tv tower, h = 150 m

$Range, d' = 2 d = \sqrt{2 Rh'} \Rightarrow d = \sqrt{2 R h}$

Height of the tower, $h' = 4 h = 4 \times 150 m = 600 m$

$∴$ Increase in height of tower = 600 - 150 = 450 m.
