From the output characteristics shown in figure calculate the values of current amplification factor of the transistor when VCE is 2V.

Solution

Given, 
VCE = 2 V
Current amplification factor,  β  = ICIBVCE

Consider characteristics for any two values of IB (say, 10 and 60 μA).
Then for V
CE = 2 V from the graph,

we have,         
IB   (60-10) μA = 50 μAIC  (9.5 -2.5) mA = 7.0 mA
                         
Therefore,          β = 7×10-3A50×10-6A = 140.
