A transistor has a current gain of 50. In a CE amplifier circuit, the collector resistance is chosen as 5 kilo ohms and the input resistance is 1 kilo ohm. Calculate the output voltage if input voltage is 0.01 V.

Solution

Given,
Current gain, β =50
Collector resistance, Rc = 5  = 5000 Ω
Input resistance, RB = 1  = 1000 Ω
Input voltage, vi = 0.01 V

Using the formula for voltage gain, we have

Voltage gain, Av = v0vi = βRCRB

 Output voltage,
                              v0 = βRCRB × vi     = 50 × 50001000×0.01    = 2.5 V.
