The oscillating electric field of an electromagnetic wave is given by:
Ey = 30 sin [2 × 1011 t + 300 πx]  Vm-1
Obtain the value of the wavelength of the electromagnetic wave.

Solution

Oscillating electric field is given by,

Ey = 30 sin [2 × 1011 t + 300 πx] Vm-1

On comparing the above equation with Ex = Eo sin (kz - ωt) we get,

       K = 300 π = 2πλ   λ = 1150 = 6.7 × 10-3 m

which is the required value of the wavelength.
