The rms value of current in an ac circuit is 10 A. What is the peak current?

Solution

Given,

$Peak voltage, E_{0} = 300 V Rms value of current, I_{rms} = 10 A$

Hence, using the formula,

$I_{rms} = \frac{I_{0}}{\sqrt{2}}$

$I_{0} = \sqrt{2} I_{rms}$

$= \sqrt{2} \times 10 = 14.1 A .$
which is the required value of peak current.
