Question
CBSEENPH12037548

A resistance of a wire is 5 Ω at 50°C and 6 Ω at 100°C. What will be the resistance of the wire at 0°C?

Solution

Using the formula,
Rt = RO (1 + αt)

Therefore,
5 = Ro ( 1+ 50α)
6 = Ro ( 1+ 100α )

On solving the above two equations we get,
                    56 =1 + 50α1 + 100α α =1200
Now, putting the value of α  in one of the equations above , we get

               5= RO [1+ 501200 ] = 4 Ω .
Therefore, the value of resistance at 0o C is 4Ω .
