(a) What is the total capacitance of the combination?
(b) Determine the charge on each capacitor if the combination is connected to a 100 V supply.

Given, three capacitors of capacitances
                         ${\mathrm{C}}_1 = 2 \mathrm{pF} = 2 \times {10}^{-12} \mathrm{F}$
                         ${\mathrm{C}}_2 = 3 \mathrm{pF} = 3 \times {10}^{-12}\mathrm{F}$
                         ${\mathrm{C}}_3 = 4 \mathrm{pF} = 4 \times {10}^{-12}\mathrm{F}$

(a) Since the capacitors are connected in parallel we have,
                      $\boxed{\mathrm{C} = {\mathrm{C}}_1+{\mathrm{C}}_2+{\mathrm{C}}_3}$
                   $$\begin{gathered} = (2+3+4) \times {10}^{-12} \\ = 9 \times {10}^{-12} = 9 \mathrm{pF} \end{gathered}$$

(b) Given,  $\mathrm{Potential}-\mathrm{V} = 100 \mathrm{volt}$
                   
                    $$\begin{gathered} {\mathrm{q}}_1={\mathrm{C}}_1\mathrm{V} \\ = 2 \times {10}^{-12} \times 100 \\ = 2 \times {10}^{-10} \mathrm{C} \end{gathered}$$

                    $$\begin{gathered} {\mathrm{q}}_2 = {\mathrm{C}}_2\mathrm{V} \\ = 3\times {10}^{-12}\times 100 \\ = 3 \times {10}^{-10}\mathrm{C} \\ {\mathrm{q}}_3 = {\mathrm{C}}_3\mathrm{V} \\ = 4\times {10}^{-12}\times 100 \\ = 4 \times {10}^{-10}\mathrm{C} \end{gathered}$$

q₁,q₂ and q₃ represent the charge on each capacitor respectively.
