In the given figure, what is the magnetic field induction at point O.

$\frac{μ_{o} I}{4 πr}$

$\frac{μ_{o} I}{4 r} + \frac{μ_{o} I}{2 πr}$

$\frac{μ_{0} I}{4 r} + \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 πr}$

$\frac{μ_{0} I}{4 r} - \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 π r}$

Solution

$\frac{μ_{0} I}{4 r} + \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 πr}$

Magnetic field due to the straight wire above O is zero

i.e. = B₁ = 0 (since, θ =0°)

The magnetic field due to semicircular part

$B_{2} = (\frac{μ_{0} nI}{2 r}) = \frac{μ_{0} (1 / 2) I}{2 r} = \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 r}$

The magnetic field due to lower straight portion

$B_{3} = \frac{1}{2} \frac{μ_{0} I}{2 πr}$ (upward)

Net magnetic field B = B₁ + B₂ + B₃

= $= 0 + \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 r} + \frac{μ_{0} I}{4 πr} (upwards)$
