State two properties of vector addition.

Solution

Two properties of vector addition are:
(i) Addition of vectors is commutative.
That is, (straight A with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top space plus stack space B space with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top equals space B with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top space plus space A with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top
(ii) Addition of vectors is associative.
Mathematically, left parenthesis straight A with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top space plus space straight B with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top right parenthesis space plus space straight C with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top space equals space straight A with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top space plus space left parenthesis straight B with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top plus straight C with rightwards harpoon with barb upwards on top right parenthesis
