A doctor has prescribed a corrective lens of power + 1.5 D. Find the focal length of the lens. Is the prescribed lens diverging or converging?

Solution

Given,
Power of the lens, P = + 1.5 D

Therefore,
Focal length of the lens, f = 1P 
                                      = 1+1.5 D = +1015 m = + 0.67 cm  

As the focal length is positive, the prescribed lens is converging.
