A thin lens has a focal length of - 50 cm. What is the power of the lens and its nature?

Solution
Since the focal length is negative, so the lens is concave. 

Focal length, f = -50 cm = -0.50 m 

∴    Power, P = 1f(in m) = 1-0.50 m = -2 D
