When we think about disease, we think about individual sufferers, whereas when we think about health, we think about societies and communities. Health means a state of being well enough to function well physically, mentally and socially. Diesease-free is being free from any discomfort. It may be possible to be in poor health without suffering from a particular disease. Thus the conditions for healthy and disease free may not be the same.
