Solution

Here we have,

Mass of the water being pumped, m = 2400 kg

Time taken to pump out the water, t = 1 min
= 60 s

Velocity with which the water is coming out, v = 3 m/s

Pump runs for 10 hours.

Power of the pump, P =

\frac{Work done}{time taken} = \frac{K . E}{t} = \frac{\frac{1}{2} m v^{2}}{t}

\frac{2400 \times 3 \times 3}{2 \times 60}

= 180 W
