What is the relationship between the seismic zone and epicentre?

Solution

The point from where the shock-waves of an earthquake originate due to sudden movements is the seismic zone. The seismic zone or fault zone lies within the crust of the earth at a depth of about 60 km.

The point on the surface of the earth, vertically above the seismic focus is called epicentre.
