Represent the following inequality graphically in two dimensional plane:
3y + 6 < 0

Solution

3y + 6 < 0  rightwards double arrow   3y < - 6  or y < - 2
The line drawn will be at y = -2 on y-axis and it will be horizontal.
The inequality is y<-2, so dotted line is drawn O (0, 0) substituted in y > -2
rightwards double arrow                     0 < -2 which is false.
∴  The region represented is the one which does not contain (0, 0).
(or alternatively y < -2 is towards the lower side of the horizontal line)
