What is the probability that a leap year, selected at random will contain 53 sundays?

Solution

A leap year has 366 days, i.e., 52 weeks and 2 days.
The remaming 2 days can be
(i)    Sunday and Monday.
(ii)    Monday and Tuesday.
(iii)    Tuesday and Wednesday.
(iv)    Wednesday and Thursday.
(v) Thursday and Friday.
(vi)    Friday and Saturday.
(vii)    Saturday and Sunday.
Out of these seven possibilities only tw'o are favourable for Sunday.
Hence, probability of getting 53 Sundays in a leap year = 2 over 7.
