Solution

Time taken by Michael = $\frac{7}{12} h r$

Time taken by Vaibhav = $\frac{3}{4} h r$

Converting these fractions into like fractions, we obtain

$\frac{3}{4} = \frac{3 \times 3}{4 \times 3} = \frac{9}{12} And, \frac{7}{12}$

Since 9 > 7,

Vaibhav worked longer.

Difference = $\frac{9}{12} - \frac{7}{12} = \frac{2}{12} = \frac{1}{6} hour$
