A cube of side 4 cm contains a sphere touching its sides. Find the volume of the gap in between.

Solution
Volume of cube = 43 = 64 cm3
Radius of sphere (r) = 4 over 2 space cm equals space 2 cm
therefore  Volume of the sphere = 4 over 3 πr cubed
                 equals 4 over 3.22 over 7.2.2.2
equals space 704 over 21 space cm cubed    
therefore    Volume of the gap in between 
             equals 64 minus 704 over 21 equals 640 over 21 space cm cubed
equals space 30.47 space cm cubed
