Solve the following equation and check your results.

8x + 4 = 3 (x-1) +7

Solution

8x + 4 = 3 (x-1) +7
or                          8x + 4 = 3x - 3 + 7
or                          8x + 4 = 3x + 4
Transposing 4 to RHS, we have
                             8x = 3x + 4 - 4
Transposing 3x to LHS, we have
                              8x - 3x =0
or                                  5x = 0

∴                                    x = 0
