Usha wants to design a salwar kameez for school children. Draw and explain how she can use all the five principles of design in this dress.
Proportion: The relative length of two parts of a garment is termed as a proportion. The degree and method of subordinating some part of a design to other are shown as a proportion.
Harmony:
- Salwar and dupatta having matching colour, texture and print as on kameez.
- Repetition of border and piping on salwar and kameez.
Workmanship is done:
- Kurta size would be comfortable.
- The measurements required are chest/bust, length of kurta and sleeve length.
- The hem of the salwar is stiffened to enable the garment to fall and drape well.
- The salwar measurement can be done one and half time of hips as body changes due to quick development.
Emphasis:
- Logo on the pocket
- Embroidery on the neckline
- Contrast colour/ piping / pocket etc.
