Subject: Safety of Women

Sir/ Madam,

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of all the readers towards the increasing incidents of eve-teasing in our Indian society and how women are not safe in this society, whether it is a small girl or a teenager or a working women or an aged lady, such incidents are increasing tremendously creating huge sense of fear in the minds of people.

We talk about women empowerment all the time on a regular basis and ask the nation to be a part of it. But even after so many campaigns people are not learning the sensitivity of the gender. Women are still considered as a weak section of the society and still not given equal opportunity and the freedom and respect they deserve. We forget that this section of the society makes half of the population of the nation, and if they feel unsafe in the society, it would not take much time for the society to lose its existence.

India is now developing and so should its society develop. The fight for equal women right is not an individual fight but a fight as a whole. I hope that you publish my words in your newspaper as it would be for the betterment of the society and nation as whole.

Yours truly,

Amna/Omar
