The Canadian Pacific Railway line is the longest railway line in North America. It is 7050 km long.

Salience:

(i)It connects Vancouver in the west to Halifax in east passing through Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Calgary cities.

(ii)  It connects Qubec-Montreal industrial region with the wheat belt of Prairie region.

(iii)    It also connects the coniferous forest region in the north.

(iv) Thus each of these regions became complementary to each other.

(v) A branch line from Winnipeg connects it to Thunder Bay. This rail line is the economic artery of Canada.
