Rate of disappearance of Cl₂

= \frac{- d [{Cl}_{2}]}{dt}

From the chemical equation, Rate of disappearance of Cl₂

= \frac{1}{2} \times Rate of formation of NOCl

∴

\frac{d [{Cl}_{2}]}{dt} = \frac{1}{2} \frac{d [NOCl]}{dt} .
