What is Lindlar's catalyst? What for is it used?

Solution

A mixture of Pd and CaCO₃ or BaSO₄, partially poisoned by the addition of PbCO₃, S or quinoline is Lindlar’s catalyst. It is used for partial reduction of alkynes to cis-alkenes.
