The tenure of the Lok Sabha is 5 years while the members of Rajya Sabha are elected for 6 years.

The Lok Sabha is composed of 545 members whose maximum strength is 550. The President of India nominates two members from Anglo Indian Community whereas the Rajya Sabha consists of 250 members. The President of India from appoints the 12 members from across various fields.
