Mention two problems affecting the fishing industry in Bangladesh.
i. Tropical climate poses huge problem for preservation and transportation of fish.
i. Fish has to be salted or dried before taken to large urban markets.
Give three reasons to explain why Japan occupies a leading among the fishing nations of the world.
i. Japan has large continental shelf which is ideal for the growth and reproduction of fish.
ii. There are big corporations with modernized ships and equipments which organize the fishing.
iii. The big ships go in the open oceans and send back their catch to the large ships.
The Kerala coast is the most intensely fished area of India. What makes this possible ? Mention two reasons to explain the above fact.
i. It has long coastline of about 590 km. which is highly indented.
ii. The coastline is dotted by a number of lakes and lagoon which makes it in natural site for breeding of the fishes.

ii. What measures are being undertaken for the development of fishing in India ?
i. Fish preservation is the method by which fish is prevented from getting decayed or decomposed. Whereas Fish conservation is to prevent over fishing or indiscriminate fishing and to conserve it for our future generations.
ii. i. Poor fisherman are being provided with subsidies to motorise their traditional craft.
ii. Refrigeration facilities are being provided for storage of the catch.
iii. Apart from 6 major fishing harbours 33 minor fishing harbour and 130 landing centres have been constructed to provide landing and berthing facilities for fishing.
